Unfortunately, stress is a key trigger for digestive upset therefore it is important to reduce stress if we are suffering with digestive issues. Studies have shown that mindful eating can reduce stress and the symptoms of IBS and digestive issues. Here are ways in which you can begin to eating mindfully and improve digestion;

  • Eat slowly
  • Focus on your food by turning off your TV and putting away your phone
  • Notice how your food looks on your plate and how it smells
  • Select each bite of food consciously
  • Pay attention to the texture, temperature and taste of your food

So how can reflexology help? Used regularly, alongside a healthy lifestyle, reflexology can promote relaxation, balance the body, and reduce stress. This then results in better digestion.
