Bathroom Renovation with Classic Metro Tiles

Bathroom Renovation with Classic Metro Tiles

I could not wait to start renovating our bathroom. We moved in March and knew that persevering with the brown suite was going to be a tall order! We had a beautiful bathroom in our old house with the lovely clean lines of classic white metro tiles, free standing bath, and separate shower so were keen to replicate all the best bits in our new space.

First up, we decided to once again go for a Burlington suite including a free standing bath and traditional sink and toilet. We loved the bath in our old house- the double end and deep shape makes for such a luxurious soak. We didn’t want sliding doors on the separate shower though as found these were prone to breaking, particularly in hard water areas. So we chose a walk in shower with glass panels.

Tiles are a big decision. Once they are on it is a long term commitment! We started looking at floral patterns but kept looking longingly at the crisp look of the classic metro tiles. Traditional and beautiful- we decided to buy these- but not all metros are equal. Some are textured, some bevelled, and others crackle glaze. Having sent for plenty of samples, we loved the Elements White Wall tile from Porcelain Superstore. The tile is nice and solid yet smooth, and is a lovely shade of white. They are also really great value at only £28.20 per square metre. Paired with a silver grout, they look simple and stunning!

We also chose a delicately floral splash back tile to add a bit of colour and pattern. The perfect partner to the metros. For flooring, we went practical with a good quality vinyl bathroom flooring. The room looks uncluttered yet homely.

We are thrilled with the finished bathroom. It is calm and serene. The room feels bright but cosy, and super luxurious. It was most definitely worth the wait and we are pleased with all of our choices. Classic is the way forward!
