Great Spa Days in Suffolk- The Bedford Lodge, Newmarket Review

Great Spa Days in Suffolk- The Bedford Lodge, Newmarket Review

A spa day is my absolute favourite way to catch up with best friends. Lounging in a fluffy robe with quality time to chat and catch up really is priceless. Finding great spas retreats in the UK is one of my favourite pastimes! I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Bedford Lodge Spa for one of those spa days in Suffolk as a birthday treat with one of my favourite human beings.

Arrival:

We were warmly welcomed by friendly, professional spa staff who offered us a  welcome drink. I opted for peppermint tea which was served with a lovely little lavender macaron. A good start!

Products:

Next we were given a tour of the facilities, then it was time to start the relaxation. Unfortunately the pool was undergoing work, nevertheless we enjoyed using the large steam room, sauna and experience showers. All of the showers had Espa products for guests use. I am a huge fan of Espa; wonderful products from a cruelty free company.

Relaxation:

At last the robes! For me, donning the robe signifies bliss- I never take my robe to the wet areas as a warm, cosy robe is just too precious. We found a luxurious relaxation room, complete with plenty of furry blankets, cushions and a range of sofa-type beds.  This was the perfect place to snuggle up for a chat (quietly of course!).

Afternoon Tea:

We had booked the ‘pick and mix’ package which included an afternoon tea. A good quality offering this was too. The sandwiches were a tasty selection including chicken and tarragon, smoked salmon and the classic cucumber. afternoon tea The scones (fruit and plain) were served with clotted cream, strawberry jam and lemon curd. This was actually a lovely twist.

Bedford Lodge Spa Finally the cakes! A selection of sweet treats, some of which we couldn’t manage due to the generous portions . We didn’t miss out as the helpful waiting staff offered to box these up for us to take home. Our favourites were the tiny raspberry and blueberry tarts and the double chocolate eclairs.

Treatments:

With three choices to make (there are a total of 9 options to choose from), we had a total treatment time of 1 hour 15 minutes. Our therapists were wonderfully professional and skilled. I opted for an oil salt scrub, a back neck and shoulder massage, and finally a scalp massage. Espa products were used during all of these treatments. Little details like the soothing oil infusion bowl, a warm wheat eye mask and a heated bed made this a truly luxurious experience.

What a Great Spa Days in Suffolk:

After a perfect day of catching up we left the spa feeling relaxed, pampered and satisfied (small box of cakes in tow). Thank you Bedford Lodge Spa-we will definitely be back.
